Background:  Fees for recreational fishing and hunting and commercial fishing licenses are specified in statute.

 

The Fish and Wildlife Commission could be given the authority to establish these fees as it sees fit.

 

Summary of Bill:  The Fish and Wildlife Commission must establish fees for hunting, recreational and commercial fishing licenses, tags and permits.  The fees may be increased but not decreased from January 1, 1999, levels.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on February 16, 1999.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

 

Testimony For:  The Fish and Wildlife Commission requests the authority to set fees for recreational fishing, hunting and commercial fishing licenses.

 

Testimony Against:  The Legislature has traditionally set the fees for recreational and commercial licenses.
