Title:  An act relating to lawful vehicle combinations.

 

Brief Description:  Legalizing a motor vehicle, travel trailer, and boat trailer combination.

Background:  Current law prohibits any combination of vehicles consisting of more than two vehicles.  The existing exemptions apply to truck-tractor and trailer combinations or vehicles used in driveaway service.

 

Summary of Bill:  A vehicle combination consisting of a vehicle, travel trailer, and a trailer designed for hauling a boat is authorized.  Specific limitations are placed on the size of the vehicles in the combination.  The overall braking capacity and trailer hitches must be capable of handling the gross weight of all the trailers in tow.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
