Title:  An act relating to two‑year vehicle licensing.

 

Brief Description:  Establishing two‑year vehicle licensing.

Background:  The Department of Licensing currently issues vehicle licenses for a registration year.  At the end of 12 months, the owner of the vehicle must renew the license.

 

Summary of Bill:  The Department of Licensing must issue vehicle licenses for a registration period of two years.  At the end of the 24 months, the vehicle owner must renew the license.

 

Various license fees are doubled to reflect the two-year payment period.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on February 2, 2000.

 

Effective Date:  This act takes effect January 1, 2001.
