Requiring the state treasurer to transfer certain moneys from the general fund to meet established annual criteria.

    AN ACT Relating to account transfers by the state treasurer; adding a new section to chapter 43.08 RCW; and declaring an emergency.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.08 RCW to read as follows:

    (1) In cases where the treasurer is required to make periodic transfers during the fiscal year of money from the general fund to other accounts based on annual criteria, the treasurer shall make transfers between such accounts as may be necessary to reconcile end of year fund balances so that the annual criteria are satisfied.

    (2) This section applies to account transfers occurring in fiscal year 1999 and thereafter.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.  This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and takes effect immediately.
