Prohibiting new drivers under 18 from carrying passengers under 18.


    AN ACT Relating to newly licensed drivers under eighteen years of age; and adding a new section to chapter 46.20 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 46.20 RCW to read as follows:

    A person under eighteen years of age, upon receiving his or her first Washington state driver's license, may not transport any passengers under the age of eighteen years for one year after the issuance of the license, unless there is a person over the age of twenty-one years in the vehicle.
