HB 1682 - DIGEST

     Requires the chief administrative officer of a school, or his or her designee, to make the notification to a law enforcement agency required by this act:  (1) Whenever a person violates RCW 9.41.280 by carrying or possessing a firearm; or

     (2) whenever there is reasonable cause to believe that a person suffers from a mental disorder and presents an imminent likelihood of serious harm; and

     (a) The person violates RCW 9.41.280 other than by carrying or possessing a firearm; or

     (b) While on school premises or school-provided transportation, or at a school-sponsored activity, the person makes an apparently serious attempt or express threat to inflict death or great bodily harm upon another.

     Provides that, for purposes of this act, "mental disorder" and "likelihood of serious harm" have the same meanings assigned them in RCW 71.05.020 and 71.34.020.
