HB 1988 - DIGEST

     Directs the department to, to the extent that funds are available, extend the existing maternity care access program that is designed to ensure healthy child development and to reduce child abuse and neglect.  The program shall provide extended maternity care services to at-risk eligible persons and their children, up to age three, to the maximum extent allowable under the medical assistance program, Title XIX of the federal social security act.

     Establishes the maternity care endowment fund in the custody of the state treasurer.

     Makes appropriations of unspecified amounts to carry out the purposes of the act.
