On page 6, after line 7, insert:
ANEW SECTION. Sec. 13. If section 9(3) applies to the selection of major party nominees and a major party does not have a rule in effect under section 9(3)(a) of this act, the state central committee of that party may nullify the selection of the candidate as its nominee for a specific partisan office, who received a plurality of the votes among candidates for that office who are affiliated with that party that were cast by only voters choosing to affiliate with that party, and declare that party's nominee for that office to be the candidate who received a plurality of the votes for candidates affiliated with that party that were cast by both voters who choose to affiliate with that party and voters who choose to be undeclared. The state central committee must take this action, and notify the filing officer for the particular office, no later than two weeks after the date of the primary.@
Renumber the following sections consecutively and correct internal references accordingly.
EFFECT: Allows a major party to change its nominee for a specific partisan office to be the candidate who received a plurality of the votes among its candidates for that office cast by both voters who are affiliated with that party and voters who are undeclared, rather than the candidate who received a plurality of the votes among its candidates cast by only voters who are affiliated with that party.
