    On page 8, line 11, after "PROJECTS." insert "(1)"

    On page 8, after line 19, insert the following:

    "(2) If construction of a toll facility authorized under this chapter commences within three years of the effective date of this act, the toll facility must use transponder technology to aid in collecting tolls.  In developing standards and soliciting bids for electronic toll collection, the department shall examine and evaluate all reasonably available technology and shall develop standards that do not favor one technology over another."

EFFECT:  Requires department to evaluate variety of technology and develop standards that do not favor one over another.
