     On page 7, line 14, after "required" insert "of a general contractor"

     On page 7, line 16, after "amount." insert "The total amount paid from a bond or deposit required of a specialty contractor by this section to claimants other than residential homeowners must not exceed one-half of the bond amount or $4,000, whichever is greater."

EFFECT:  Increases the amount that may be paid from a specialty contractor bond to claimants other than residential homeowners from one-half of the bond amount to one-half of the bond amount or $4,000, whichever is greater.  (Under the striking amendment, one-half of the bond amount is $3,000.)

Does not change the amount that may be paid from a general contractor bond to claimants other than residential homeowners.  (Under the striking amendment, one-half of the bond amount is $6,000).
