     On page 102, line 2, increase the general fund--state appropriation for fiscal year 2002 by $500,000

     On page 102, line 3, increase the general fund--state appropriation for fiscal year 2003 by $500,000

     Correct the total accordingly

     On page 103, after line 33, insert the following:

A(7) $500,000 of the general fund-state appropriation for fiscal year 2002 and $500,000 of the general fund-state appropriation for fiscal year 2003 is provided for the creation of an identity theft bureau within the state patrol.  The identity theft bureau shall coordinate and assist efforts of law enforcement agencies, prosecuting attorneys, and the attorney general in investigating, apprehending, and prosecuting offenders under RCW 9.35.020.@

EFFECT:  Adds an additional $1 million to create and fund an identity theft bureau within the Washington State Patrol to coordinate and assist in the investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of identity crime offenders.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Increases General Fund-State by $1,000,000.
