    On page 5, line 39 of the amendment, after "committee." insert  "The administrator shall adopt the recommendation of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee on the preferred drug list in whole, and may modify the committee's recommendation only if the administrator does so in writing, specifying the reason for not adopting each element of the committee's recommendation.  The administrator is prohibited from modifying the committee's recommendation based solely on the cost of the recommended preferred drug."

EFFECT:  Requires the administrator of the Health Care Authority to adopt the P & T committee's recommendation on the preferred drug list in whole, but allows for modifications if specified in writing.  The administrator is prohibited from modifying the committee recommendation based solely on the cost of the drug involved.
