    On page 3, after line 21 of the amendment, insert the following:

    "(5) Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to authorize administration of drugs by injection, except injection of epinephrine for anaphylactic shock or surgery, including but not limited to, retinal repair surgery and laser in situ keratomileusis surgery.  This prohibition shall not include the following treatments:  Removal of foreign bodies from the eye and surrounding areas and the placement of temporary or permanent punctal plugs.  The provisions of this section shall be strictly construed."

EFFECT:  Prohibits optometrists from administering drugs by injection, except injection of epinephrine for anaphylactic shock.  Prohibits optometrists from performing surgery and exempts specific procedures.
