Brief Summary of Substitute Bill

 

$Certain boxing officials must provide annual proof of certification.

Background: 

 

The Department of Licensing regulates the sports of boxing, kick boxing martial arts, and wrestling.  All persons who promote, conduct, or participate in these events must be licensed by the department.  An annual license is issued for a fee.  Training, experience, and examination performance are not a part of the licensing requirements.  However, boxers, kick boxers, wrestlers, martial arts participants, and referees also must provide annual proof of a physical examination.

 

Summary of Bill: 

 

Certain licensed officials are required to provide annual proof of certification as having adequate experience, skill, and training.  In order to be licensed, judges, referees, inspectors, timekeepers and other officials deemed necessary by the department are required to provide annual certification by an organization approved by the department.  

 

Rules Authority:  The bill does not contain provisions addressing the rule-making powers of an agency.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
