Background:  The Address Confidentiality Program in the Office of Secretary of State enables state and local agencies to respond to requests for public records without disclosing the location of a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault.

 

Summary of Bill:  Victims of stalking may participate in the Address Confidentiality Program.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

 

Testimony For:  This is needed legislation and can be of great help to those who need this confidentiality.  The program has been a success and has been copied by other states.
