Background:  Each year pesticide registrations must be renewed at a cost of $145.  Registration fees are paid to the Department of Agriculture.

 

Summary of Bill:  Pesticide registrations are renewed every two years at a cost of $290.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

 

Effective Date:  The bill contains two effective dates to provide a phase-in to the two-year registration period.

 

Testimony For:  Going to a two-year registration period will reduce annual paperwork requirements and costs incurred by the agency and the private sector. (Testimony on Senate companion bill.)
