Title:  An act relating to reduced rate licenses for veterans of foreign wars.

 

Brief Description:  Reducing fishing and hunting license fees for honorably discharged veterans of foreign wars.

Background:  Hunting licenses are currently offered at a 50 percent reduced price to honorably discharged veterans having a service-connected disability who are 65 years old or older, veterans of any age with over 30 percent service connected disability, or veterans confined to a wheelchair.

 

Combination fishing licenses are issued at a reduced rate of $5 to veterans with a 30 percent or more service-connected disability.

 

The eligibility of reduced rate hunting and fishing licenses could be expanded to include all honorably discharged veterans of foreign wars.

 

Summary of Bill:  Residents who are honorably discharged veterans of foreign wars of the United States are eligible to purchase hunting licenses at one-half price and/or combination fishing licenses for a price reduced from $36 to $5.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on January 12, 2001.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
