Majority Report:  Do pass.

Background:  Illegal garbage dumping on rural lands has been an increasing problem for several years.  Last year the Legislature increased the penalties for unlawful garbage dumping in unincorporated areas.  The bill contained a typographical error which transposed the word ?unincorporated@ where ?incorporated@ should have been.

Summary of Bill:  The error in the garbage dumping statute is corrected.  It is a civil infraction to dump more than one cubic foot of garbage in an incorporated area.

Appropriation:  None.

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

Testimony For:  This is a technical cleanup bill.  The underlying law is a helpful step in combating garbage dumping.

Testimony Against:  None.

Testified:  Senator Tim Sheldon, prime sponsor.
