Title:  An act relating to entities eligible to be project sponsors for salmon recovery funding board grants.

 

Brief Description:  Allowing state agencies to sponsor salmon recovery projects.

 

Sponsors:  Senators Jacobsen, Oke, Spanel, Swecker, Gardner, McAuliffe and Regala; by request of Salmon Recovery Funding Board.

Background:  Project sponsors for purposes of receiving Salmon Recovery Funding Board grants include counties, cities, special districts, tribal governments, nonprofit organizations or private citizens.

 

If state agencies are added to the definition of project sponsors, then they are eligible for Salmon Recovery Board funding.

 

Summary of Bill:  State agencies are added to the definition of project sponsor, making them eligible for Salmon Recovery Funding Board grants.  Interagency agreements may be used to provide funding from the Salmon Recovery Funding Board to state agencies.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on January 17, 2001.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
