Title:  An act relating to prohibiting the sale of alcohol on state ferries.

Background:  The ferry system is part of the highway system.  It is illegal to operate a motor vehicle after drinking alcohol.  Some people who ride the ferries drink alcohol on the ferry and operate their vehicles once they arrive at their destination.

 

Summary of Bill:  The sale of liquor on all Washington State ferries is prohibited.  This prohibition cannot impair existing contracts the ferry system has with the entities providing alcohol on the ferries.

Effective Date:  The bill contains an emergency clause and takes effect immediately.
