Title:  An act relating to veterans memorial plaza.

 

Brief Description:  Establishing a veterans memorial plaza.

Background:  The Capitol Campus does not have a plaza where veterans may place memorials commemorating combat or peacekeeping action.

 

Summary of Bill:  Subject to approval by the Capitol Campus Committee, the Department of General Administration (Department) must designate a portion of the east capitol site, in the vicinity of the Korean War Memorial, as the Veterans Memorial Plaza.  The Department must adopt rules allowing organizations, at their own cost, to place memorials within the Veterans Memorial Plaza commemorating combat or peacekeeping action in which under United States or Washington State authority, military forces have been deployed or served as direct support.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
