Background:  RCW 82.08.0201 requires the Department of Licensing to report an estimate of revenue not collected as a result of the motor vehicle excise tax (MVET) exemption on rental cars under 82.44.023.  SB 6865 (passed by the 2000 Legislature) repealed the MVET, as well as the excise tax on travel trailers and campers.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

Testimony For:  This cleans up the statutes.  The report is no longer needed since the motor vehicle excise tax has been repealed.

Testimony Against:  None.

Testified:  Senator Kastama, prime sponsor.
