Title:  An act relating to personal use fishing license fees.

 

Brief Description:  Increasing the fees for certain personal use fish and shellfish licenses.

Background:  Personal use license fees for a two-day fishing license are $6 for both residents and nonresidents.  Shellfish and seaweed licenses are $6 for two days, $7 for annual resident licenses, and $20 for annual nonresident licenses.

 

The Office of Financial Management recommends increasing these fees in order to generate more revenue.

 

Summary of Bill:  The two-day fishing license is increased from $6 to $12 for residents or nonresidents.  The two-day shellfish and seaweed license is increased from $6 to $12 for residents and nonresidents.  The annual nonresident shellfish and seaweed license is increased from $20 to $28.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on January 24, 2002.

 

Effective Date:  The bill contains an emergency clause and takes effect immediately.
