Title:  An act relating to conditioning the issuance of building permits on connecting to public water systems.

Background:  Each applicant for a building permit of a building requiring water that is fit to drink must provide evidence of an adequate water supply for the intended use of the building.  The county or city may impose conditions on building permits requiring connection to an existing public water system where the existing system is willing and able to provide safe and reliable water that is fit to drink to the applicant with reasonable economy and efficiency.

 

Summary of Bill:  A county or city must require connection to a public water system operated by a special purpose district providing water fit to drink if a building is located within the service area of the district and the district has requested the county or city to impose that condition on the building permit.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
