Background:  The voters approved two education-related initiatives in November 2000.  Initiative 728 diverted general fund revenues to the student achievement fund.   Initiative 732 required provision of an annual cost-of-living increase for K-12 teachers and other school employees, community and technical college faculty, and other technical college employees.

 

Summary of Bill:  The Legislature intends to raise revenue to fund the education-related initiatives.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
