Background:  Upon approval of a redistricting plan by three of the voting members of the Redistricting Commission, but not later than January 1 of each year ending in two, the commission must submit the plan to the Legislature.  After submission of the plan by the commission, the Legislature has the next 30 days during any regular or special session to amend the commission's plan.  If the Legislature amends the commission's plan, the Legislature's amendment must be approved by an affirmative vote in each house of two-thirds of the members, and may not include more than 2 percent of the population of any legislative or congressional district.

 

Summary of Bill:  The plan submitted by the Redistricting Commission to the Legislature is amended as follows:  391 people are transferred from Legislative District 18 to Legislative District 49; and 212 people are transferred from Legislative District 49 to Legislative District 18.
