Creating a college board job bank.


    AN ACT Relating to directing the state board for community and technical colleges to create a college board job bank; and adding a new section to chapter 28B.50 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 28B.50 RCW to read as follows:

    (1) The college board must create an electronic job bank on its web site to act as a clearinghouse for people seeking academic teaching positions at the state's community and technical colleges.  The job bank must be accessible on the internet.  Use of the electronic job bank is not mandatory.

    (2) The college board must include a separate section on its electronic job bank reserved for the exclusive listing of part-time academic employees seeking full-time academic employment opportunities available at the state's community and technical colleges.

    (3) The web site must, at a minimum, include each of the following components:

    (a) Space for personal contact information for the candidate;

    (b) An option to include relevant work experience;

    (c) An option to include a copy of a candidate's personal resume;

    (d) An option to include educational background information;

    (e) An option to include relevant information on a candidate's area of expertise and/or other areas of interest;

    (f) An option to include personal and professional references; and

    (g) An option to add, remove, or update applicant information.

    (4) The college board must include a separate section on its electronic job bank reserved for the exclusive listing of part-time academic employment opportunities at state community and technical colleges.

    (5) The electronic job bank must, at a minimum, include each of the following components:

    (a) A description of the open position;

    (b) A listing of required skills and experience necessary for the position;

    (c) A listing of teaching hours, and credits and/or number of courses to be taught by this position; and

    (d) The district where the employment opening exists.
