READ FIRST TIME 02/06/2002.  UNDER SUSPENSION OF RULES, READ SECOND AND THIRD TIMES AND PASSED.

Modifying districts eighteen, twenty-seven, twenty-eight, and forty-nine in the plan for legislative redistricting. 


    WHEREAS, Pursuant to RCW 44.05.100 and Article II, section 43 of the state Constitution, the Washington State Redistricting Commission, on December 17, 2001, submitted to the legislature a plan for the redistricting of state legislative districts; and

    WHEREAS, Pursuant to RCW 44.05.100, the legislature desires to amend the boundaries of legislative districts twenty-seven and twenty-eight, involving 1,766 people of 120,334 in district twenty-seven and 1,803 people of 120,285 in district twenty-eight; and

    WHEREAS, The legislature further desires to amend the boundaries of legislative districts eighteen and forty-nine, involving 391 people of 120,290 in district eighteen, and 212 people of 120,288 in district forty-nine; and

    WHEREAS, These amendments include less than two percent of the population of each of the affected legislative districts as required by law;

    NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Senate of the State of Washington, the House of Representatives concurring, That the plan for legislative redistricting approved and submitted by the Washington State Redistricting Commission on December 17, 2001, be amended as follows:

 

    (1) LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 27 TO LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 28:

    (a) On page 279, after "Tract 709.00; Block Group 3," strike "Tract 723.05; Block Group 2,"

    (b) On page 282, after "Block 1009," strike all material through "Block 3009," on page 283

    (c) On page 283, after "721.12," insert "723.05,"

    (d) On page 284, after "Tract 721.06; Block Group 5," strike all material through "Tract 723.05; Block Group 6,"

    (e) On page 285, after "Tract 721.06; Block 1007, Block 1008, Block 1009, Block 1010," strike all material through "Block 3017,"
