HB 1547 - DIGEST

 

                      (DIGEST AS ENACTED)

 

     Revises provisions for licensing insurance agents, brokers, solicitors, and adjusters.

     Provides that persons resident in the United States but not in Washington may apply for such a license on a form prepared by the national association of insurance commissioners or others, if those forms are approved by the commissioner by rule.  An applicant shall also furnish any other information required to be submitted but not provided for in that form.

     Provides that the commissioner may license as an agent or as a broker, a person who is not a resident of or domiciled in this state and who holds a corresponding license issued by the state or province of his or her residence or domicile, subject to RCW 48.17.530, if by the laws of the state or province of his or her residence or domicile a similar privilege is extended to residents of or corporations domiciled in this state.  As used in this section, "state" means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, any territory of the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, the Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands; and "province" means a province of Canada.
