HB 1601 - DIGEST

     Declares that the purpose of this act is to enhance the performance audit and review authority of the legislature by:

     (1) Restructuring the joint legislative audit and review committee, and the office of legislative auditor, to more closely resemble the federal general accounting office and comptroller general; (2) providing greater autonomy for the legislative auditor; and (3) renaming the legislative agency that performs the legislature's performance auditing and review authority as the performance audit office, which is headed by the legislative auditor.

     Repeals RCW 43.21J.800.
