HB 1755 - DIGEST

     Establishes the college awareness project to design and implement strategies to encourage participation of underserved populations in higher education.

     Declares that strategies shall include, but are not limited to:  (1) Professional development for faculty, professional staff, and community support staff to collaboratively develop support structures necessary for success of diverse student populations;

     (2) early outreach to targeted populations in the elementary, middle school, and high school grades to inform, encourage, and prepare students to participate in and succeed in completing their higher education goals; and

     (3) specific proposals for public four-year institutions of higher education that enhance recruitment, retention, and campus climate efforts necessary to support participation by underserved students.

     Makes appropriations to carry out the purposes of the act.
