HB 1921-S - DIGEST

(DIGEST OF PROPOSED 1ST SUBSTITUTE)

     Establishes a joint select committee on climate change.  The joint select committee shall study and make recommendations to the legislature on the potential:  (1) Impacts of climate change in the state; and

     (2) Effects of early action by the state, before action by the federal government or other state governments, on the state's competitive position with respect to other states.

     Requires the joint select committee to report its interim findings to the legislature regarding the issues identified in subsection (1) of this section by December 31, 2001.  The joint select committee shall report final recommendations to the legislature regarding the issues identified in this act by June 30, 2002.
