HB 2351 - DIGEST

     Finds that the Tacoma Narrows bridge plan approved by voters clearly provided for a state contribution to pay for the construction of the approaches to the bridge so that toll payers would be responsible for paying only for the bridge itself.  The legislature hereby reaffirms its intent to provide an appropriation sufficient to meet that commitment made to voters on the Tacoma Narrows bridge advisory ballot.

     Provides that the motor vehicle account--state appropriation includes $47,682,000 for the state contribution to the design, right of way, and construction of the voter-approved Tacoma Narrows bridge project.  This appropriation is made in satisfaction of the commitment made to the voters who approved the project that an amount sufficient to pay for the approaches to the bridge would be provided by the state rather than the toll payers.
