SB 5329 - DIGEST

     Finds that an employee who is a crime victim must often take leave from work in order to participate in legal proceedings, obtain medical treatment, and obtain other necessary services arising from the crime. 

     Finds that the demands of the workplace, the needs of the criminal justice system, and the needs of crime victims must be balanced in order to have economic security and a well-functioning society.

     Finds that it is in the public interest to provide reasonable leave from employment for crime victims.

     Declares that an employer found to have committed an infraction of this act may be subject to a fine of up to two hundred dollars for the first infraction.  An employer that continues to violate the provisions of this act may be subject to a fine of up to one thousand dollars for each infraction.
