     Declares that it is the policy of the state that the costs of fire protection be equitably shared between the forest fire protection assessment account and the state general fund so that both forest landowners and the public contribute to the protection in an equitable manner.

     Provides that, if specific funding for the purposes of this act, in an amount equal to or greater than four million four hundred thousand dollars, referencing this act by bill or chapter number, is not provided by June 30, 2001, in the omnibus appropriations act, this act is null and void.
