SB 6312 - DIGEST

     Increases the duration excess property taxes can be imposed to up to four years for general purposes and up to six years for the construction, modernization, or remodeling of facilities.

     Provides that this act takes effect January 1, 2003, if the proposed amendment to Article VII, section 2 of the state Constitution (SJR --) is validly submitted to and is approved and ratified by the voters at a general election held in November, 2002.  If the proposed amendment is not approved and ratified, this act is void in its entirety.
