   On page 150, line 26, increase the general fund-state appropriation for fiscal year 2005 by $2,143,000.

   On page 150, line 30, correct the total.

   On page 152, after line 13, insert the following:

   "(4) $2,143,000 of the general fund-state appropriation for fiscal year 2005 shall be distributed to school districts in the 2004-05 school year to be used solely to provide assistance and implement plans for struggling students who will be required to successfully complete the high school Washington assessment of student learning in order to graduate in 2008."

EFFECT: Maintains the current appropriation level for the Learning Assistance Program and provides the amount that would have otherwise been returned to the general fund under the current formula, $2,143,000, to the Learning Assistance Program to provide assistance to struggling students who must pass the WASL in order to graduate in 2008.

FISCAL IMPACT: Increases General Fund-State by $2,143,000.
