On page 1, line 10, after "makes" strike "a" and insert "an electronic"

 

On page 1, beginning on line 11, after "party" strike all material through "internet" on line 12

 

On page 2, line 15, after "received." insert the following:

"(5) For purposes of this section, "electronic communication" means the transmission of information by wire, radio, optical cable, electromagnetic, or other similar means. "Electronic communication" includes, but is not limited to, electronic mail, internet based communications, pager service, and electronic text messaging."

 

 

 

 

EFFECT: Expands the crime of cyberstalking to include all electronic communications. Defines electronic communications as the transmission of information by wire, radio, optical cable, electromagnetic, or other similar means. Indicates that electronic communications include, but are not limited to, electronic mail, internet based communications, pager service, and electronic text messaging. Clarifies that the crime of cyberstalking does not apply to conduct already covered under the existing telephone harassment statute.
