Background:
In the past the Legislature has designated certain portions of the state highway system with memorial names. More recently, the Transportation Commission (Commission) established a policy and developed a process for designating memorials on the state highway system when requested to do so by the Legislature. Upon legislative request, the Commission will adopt a resolution directing the Department of Transportation (DOT) to carry out the designation of the facility with the memorial name.

The Commission is requested to designate the 320th Street crossing of Interstate Five in the City of Federal Way the "Maryann Mitchell Memorial Interchange."
