Title: An act relating to technical corrections concerning manufactured and mobile homes under the authority of RCW 1.08.025.

Sponsors: Senators Esser, Kline, Johnson and Roach; by request of Office of the Code Reviser.

Brief History:

Committee Activity: Judiciary: 1/29/03 [DP].

SENATE COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY

Majority Report: Do pass.

Signed by Senators McCaslin, Chair; Esser, Vice Chair; Brandland, Hargrove, Haugen, Johnson, Kline, Roach and Thibaudeau.

Staff: Aldo Melchiori (786-7439)

Background: RCW 43.22.434 was amended twice in 2002. Both versions added identical language to the existing statute. One version also added a new subsection (4) and provided an April 1, 2004 expiration date for the entire statute. The other version had a new subsection (4) effective April 1, 2004. The Office of the Code Reviser has proposed language that would reconcile the language in the two bills.

Summary of Bill: This is a purely technical amendment that reenacts RCW 43.22.434 with some provisions effective until April 1, 2004 and other provisions to be given effect on April 1, 2004.

Appropriation: None.

Fiscal Note: Not requested.

Effective Date: The bill contains an emergency clause and takes effect immediately.

Testimony For: This technical correction gives effect to all of the changes made to the statute in 2002. The emergency clause allows the corrected statute to be more easily modified this year, if needed.

Testimony Against: None.

Testified: Dennis Cooper, Office of the Code Reviser (pro).
