Background: The state Department of Natural Resources sells valuable materials from state lands. They are sold as a lump sum sale or as a scale sale. The amount that the department can sell is limited by statute. The unit size for public land timber harvest units is established by the Board of Natural Resources, but the board does not have authority to set the value amount of the sales.
Summary of Substitute Bill: The amount of valuable materials that can be sold at a direct sale is set by the Board of Natural Resources after appraisal.
Substitute Bill Compared to Original Bill: The establishment of valuable material sale limits is given to the Board of Natural Resources rather than being set by the Legislature. Timber harvest levels is not part of the bill.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Not requested on substitute.
Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
