AN ACT Relating to creating a list of health care providers willing to serve as volunteer resources; adding a new section to chapter 18.122 RCW; and providing an effective date.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1 A new section is added to chapter 18.122 RCW
to read as follows:
(1) Application forms for initial or renewal licensure,
certification, or registration to a health care profession must contain
a provision asking the applicant whether or not he or she grants
permission to the department to forward his or her name, profession,
and contact information to the military department as a possible
volunteer resource to be contacted in the event of a bioterrorist
incident, natural disaster, or other emergency or disaster, as defined
in RCW 38.52.010, that requires the services of health care providers.
(2) The department shall maintain lists of all applicants who grant
the department permission under subsection (1) of this section. At
least once every year, the department shall send the military
department a list of the names, professions, and contact information
for these health care providers.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2 This act takes effect January 1, 2004.
