     AN ACT Relating to limiting the purchase of land by state agencies and departments for habitat or ecosystem preservation; and adding a new section to chapter 43.17 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1   A new section is added to chapter 43.17 RCW to read as follows:
     A state agency or department may not purchase, for the primary purpose of habitat conservation or ecosystem preservation, any parcel of privately owned land that includes more than five contiguous acres in the unincorporated area of any county, unless the legislative authority of that county consents to the transaction by resolution.
