TO THE HONORABLE GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES,
AND TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE AND THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES, AND TO THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
UNITED STATES, IN CONGRESS ASSEMBLED, AND TO THE REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM
ARMED FORCES VETERANS CONFEDERATION OF WASHINGTON STATE:
We, your Memorialists, the Senate and House of Representatives of
the State of Washington, in legislative session assembled, respectfully
represent and petition as follows:
WHEREAS, The people of the former Republic of Vietnam, also known
as South Vietnam, valiantly resisted the aggression of communist North
Vietnam; and
WHEREAS, Refugees from the former Republic of Vietnam who emigrated
to the United States of America and settled in the state of Washington
made many sacrifices; and
WHEREAS, The flag of the former Republic of Vietnam holds special
meaning for the refugees and their families;
NOW, THEREFORE, Your Memorialists respectfully pray that the United
States recognize the flag of the former Republic of Vietnam as the only
legitimate flag of the Vietnamese people.
BE IT RESOLVED, That copies of this Memorial be immediately
transmitted to the Honorable George W. Bush, President of the United
States, the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Veterans Confederation of
Washington State, the President of the United States Senate, the
Speaker of the House of Representatives, and each member of Congress
from the State of Washington.
