On page 7, after line 18 of the amendment, insert the following:
"NEW SECTION. Sec. 14 (1) By January 1, 2007, the department of
general administration shall give priority and preference to the
purchase of equipment, supplies, and other products that contain only
those flame retardants that have been certified by the state to be
"technically feasible" and "safer alternative" flame retardants.
(2) The department of general administration shall, by January 1,
2007, revise its rules, policies, and guidelines to implement the
purposes of this chapter."
Renumber the remaining section consecutively.
EFFECT: Directs the Department of General Administration to give priority and preference to the purchase of products that contain flame retardants that have been certified by the Department of Ecology to be technically feasible and safer alternative flame retardants.
