subsection (7) and insert the following:
"(7) "Safer, technically feasible alternative that is available at
a reasonable cost" means an alternative that:
(a) Is available at a cost and in sufficient quantity to permit the
manufacturer or user to maintain an economically viable product;
(b) Provides a level of ignition resistance equivalent to or
greater than that provided by decabromodiphenyl ether; and
(c) Has undergone the same level of study as the product it is
meant to replace and has been found to have a lower toxicity profile
and less environmental impact."
EFFECT: Adds a definition for "safer, technically feasible alternative that is available at a reasonable cost" to mean available at a cost to maintain economic viability, provide equivalent fire resistance, and have similar study for toxicity and environmental impact.
