On page 1, line 8, after "town" insert "with a population of ten thousand or more"
On page 1, line 18, after "normally elected" insert ". In a city or town with a population of less than ten thousand, the mayor of the city or town shall appoint a municipal judge or judges of the municipal court for a term of four years, unless the city or town has provided by ordinance that the position of municipal judge shall be an elective position as provided in RCW 3.50.050(7)"
On age 3, line 7, after "ten thousand" insert "that has opted by ordinance to elect the municipal court judge"
On page 3, after line 29, insert the following:
"(7) The provisions of this section do not apply to a city or town with a population of less than ten thousand unless the city or town by ordinance provides that the position of municipal judge within the city or town shall be an elective position."
EFFECT: Provides that election of municipal court judges is not required in cities or towns with a population of less than ten thousand, unless the city or towns opts by ordinance to make the municipal judge an elective position.
