   On page 1, at the beginning of line 5 of the amendment, insert "(1)"

   On page 1, line 5 of the amendment, after "((judicial))" insert "and except as provided in subsection (2) of this section,"

   On page 1, line 18 of the amendment, after "thereafter" insert ".

   (2) This section does not apply to a city or town that is a party to an interlocal agreement with one or more cities or towns for the provision of municipal court services"

EFFECT: Exempts cities and towns that contract with one or more other cities or towns for municipal court services from the requirement that municipal judges in cities with a population of more than five thousand be elected.
