Background:
Currently 23 commemorative works are located on the capitol grounds that are maintained by the
Department of General Administration. State capitol grounds are owned by the state and include
the west, east, and north capitol campuses, the Tumwater and Lacey campuses, Sylvester Park,
Centennial Park, the Old Capitol Building, and Capitol Lake in Olympia.
Summary of Bill:
The Commemorative Works Account is created for the ongoing care, maintenance, and repair of
commemorative works on the state capitol grounds. Moneys in the account are subject to
allotment but an appropriation is not necessary. The account retains its own interest earnings.

Effective Date: The bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
