Background:
During the 2005 legislative session, SHB 1133 was enacted. The bill recodified, amended,
and reorganized the public records disclosure exemptions as a new chapter in RCW 42.56
cited as the Public Records Act (Act). The Act takes effect July 1, 2006.

Public records exemptions enacted in 2005 are recodified into the new chapter of statute.
